tell you the current time and temperature and then ask you to enter a
four-digit category code. (You must use a touch-tone
telephone.)

You will hear a brief introductory message and then you will be asked to enter the stock ticker symbol. |

To "spell" the stock's ticker symbol with a telephone keypad you must convert each letter into two digits. The first digit is the key on which the letter appears. The second digit is always a 1, 2 or 3 to indicate that letter's position on the key--either first, second or third. |

Then press the star (*) key. |

The system will then read back the ticker symbol followed by the last trading
price and day's high and low. |

When you are prompted for the next ticker symbol you may repeat the procedure or press # to exit Stock Quote Line.
Here's an example: the ticker symbol for Mattel is M A T. To hear the latest trading price for that stock you would press 61 21 81 * on your telephone keypad.
It's much easier to do than it is to describe. Try it for yourself. Stock Quote Line is a free service and you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly.
